The Community Engagement Unit’s aim is to raise awareness in students at the University of Haifa to the environment they live in and the various challenges they are facing – social, economical, ecological and educational – in that environment. The unit encourages students to become active in these areas by creating platforms and opportunities to merge into social activities while provided with professional tools, guidance and mentorship, as well as financial support throughout. The unit operates a verity of programs, including dialogue, entrepreneurship, science tutorship and collaborations with social associations and organizations. Moreover, the unit collaborates with different university departments and its researchers in order to translate research fields into actual community and social activities. We believe that in every student – and in every person – there is the potential to influence their environment for the better. Our job is to create opportunities, empower and support students seeking to act as agents of change in their communities.
